Stamp Set

Stamps with dies

To start off with this tag, I covered one of the Tim Holtz Etcetera tags (I used a #8) with white gesso. I made sure to coat the front, back and all sides and let it dry.

I used an embossing folder of snowflakes to create some dimension on a white piece of paper and then used some shimmery blue aqua pigment to add color and let that dry. When that was dry, I used my finger to rub some light blue glitter glaze on the snowflake background. When you use your fingers to do this, you can make sure some of the glaze builds up around the embossed edges and makes it pop more.

I then used some Fallen Snow glitterstock to die cut out a couple hills and used foam tape to adhere those to the tag over top of the snowflake background.

And now it is time to stamp and color our snowman! This stamp set is sooooo cute and so versatile! It is great for Halloween, Christmas, Winter, and any other occasion! The stick image is easy to line up with the apple images and no masking necessary!

I used copic markers to color in the snowman and the stick and then stamped the sentiment onto dark blue cardstock with the alabaster embossing powder.

Out of this World! …with Brutus Monroe

Hello there! I am so happy to be sharing my first blog post as a member of the Brutus Monroe 2021 Inspiration Team! Today’s card was made using the Space Flight dies. I had so much fun with this card and used all kinds of goodies from Brutus Monroe – glitter glaze, chroma mists, embossing powder and more!

The first thing I did was decide how I wanted to make the rocket ship – I used the sterling embossing powder to add some texture to the Sterling Silver Elegant Essentials Cardstock. It was super easy and I loved how it turned out! All I did was gently tap the ink pad directly to the silver Cardstock and then add sterling embossing powder and heat set. This added a cool and random texture to the Cardstock while really helped set off the rocket. I cut out the rest of the small pieces from patterned paper and foiled the flame pieces!

Next, onto the background! I used the Rainbow Spiral stencil to create the focal point of the background. This stencil was so cool to use! The first step was to use Distress Oxide inks to blend through the stencil to make the spiral – blue, blue, purple and repeat until the entire spiral is complete. It looked cool just like that, but I thought it would be neat to spritz some Chroma Mists over the coordinating colors. For this, I just put the stencil back over with the area I wanted to spray showing through the opening and give it a few sprays! I did this in a splat box and made sure to wipe the stencil down in between so I didn’t transfer colors where I didn’t want it. The Chroma Mists reacted beautifully with the Distress Oxides!

The next step was to add some sparkle! I used the Galaxy Glitter Glaze over the alternating blue inked sections. This part did take a little while, because I had to let the Glitter Glaze dry before moving onto the next section. But it was totally worth it!

I used a big circle die to cut the spiral out so there was no white left around the edges. This was then mounted onto an A2 sized piece of Blue Ribbon Cardstock that I sprayed with the Lilac Purple and Cobalt Blue Chroma Mists. I trimmed off the edges of the spiral that were hanging off of the card base to finish it off.

A sentiment from the Reach for the Stars stamp set was embossed using Alabaster embossing powder on the Blue Ribbon Cardstock and fussy cut out. I then used the Easy Tab Black Foam Dots to pop up the rocket ship and sentiment, and finished the card off with some coordinating sequins.

I am over the moon for all of the awesome outer space goodies that Brutus Monroe has in the store right now! Thanks for stopping in to check out my galaxy card, here are links to some of the products I used:

Thank You cards – with FOIL!!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I know it has been a while since I posted, so I am super excited so get another card up to share with you!

I used the Solid Toner sheets (from Creative Vision Stamps) and snowflake dies to cut out the snowflakes and then the DecoFoil Amethyst Watercolor foil to foil this beautiful purple snowflake. The Amethyst Watercolor DecoFoil is so gorgeous, and looks great with the Distress Oxide blended background (I used Shaded Lilac, Seedless Preserves, and Dusty Concord for this background).

My Husband Made a Card! Kindred Stamps & Brutus Monroe

Pretty darn good isn’t it?!

I brought it up to my husband a few weeks ago that I thought it would be fun if he made a card and we posted it on my blog and YouTube channel. He agreed! I don’t think either of us realized how much fun we were going to have! And I think he did a really great job.

We are both huge horror movie fans and when I bought the Kindred Stamps The Horror stamp set, he loved it! We also used a few stamps from the Brutus Monroe Halloween Card Kit.

The idea for the card was all his – I just helped out with some of the technical guidance. I was impressed! I think he’s been paying more attention when I talk about my card making than I thought! Lol 😀

Please check out the video below!

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed! I bet we could convince him to make some more cards in the future if you all were interested in seeing what he could come up with next!

Fall Card with Gilding Flakes and Aqua Pigments

Welcome back! Two videos in one day! I had the time today so I wanted to share this fall card I made using some items from the Brutus Monroe September 2019 Inspiration Box, along with some Aqua Pigments and Nuvo Gilding Flakes.

I think gilding flakes are BEAUTIFUL, but they are so messy! If you check out my video below, you’ll even see how they can be used as part of your manicure lol 🙂 ….I found that out by accident.

One of the things that I will recommend is that when using gilding flakes, use small amounts at a time for a nice thin layer. I used a handful and it was way messier than it needed to be. But, it still worked out in the end.

Here’s the video for more information!

Happy World Card Making Day!

And a Sympathy Card. ❤

Hello and welcome back! Today I’m sharing a quick card and video using some ink blending to create a focal point. This techinque can be used to make a really beautiful one-layer card (although I did pop this panel up on foam tape, it could have just been made using the card base). I used both regular Distress Ink and Distress Oxide Ink to make this background – I used Distress Ink in Antique Linen to blend over the whole background panel using the Taylored Expressions Blending Brushes, then cut out a mask/stencil with an oval die and used the Distress Oxide Ink in Faded Denim – concentrating the darkest color around the edges and letting it get lighter towards the center.
